Really rainy day with wet swamp. Together with Janis Krumins. Did not make the best route choice, some small mistakes, totally about 5' and one route choice mistake ~3'.

Just 3rd day after illness when I am running, started really slow, made very good navigation on forking and was in 2nd position, just some 20'' from leading guy. Caught him later, but also one other guy caught us. Did no push and run in front, but use when they missed 2nd last control and won this training.

Victory 2nd year in the row. Sad that there was just a few runners, but anyway I needed to fight with Latvian Ironman - Janis Krumins. Interesting course, because there was forking, butterfly and map change. Already on first forking split out with Janis Krumins, but we were together again before butterfly. He has a BIG loop first, but I have short one first. Than we split out again for almost 2h. I was in front and heard at map change, that my lead is ~1'. Krumins got closer because of forking, but missed control, after couple of control I made a mistake ~2' in the marsh (look at second map part) and he already was in front, but I caught him and than we run together some controls. I noticed that I am faster and run away from him in last part and won my 2nd individual gold at Latvian champs!

Mass start for TuMe boys. Everything went well, but I miss-punched second last control, because there were not numbers, just a paper stripes with reflectors and in the terrain there were so much this kind on reflectors - also at the stone which I took like mine control.

Saturday morning training from previous days night intervals - mistake correction. Today only one mistake, when did no go till the control and stated to looking for it faster on the slope.

First steps in to the Jukola 2017 relevant terrain. Expectation for the forest was far from reality - terrain is so variable and changing, than you really need to control yourself all the time and need to play with your own orienteering speed. Rough terrain.

Easy night orienteering training - first after Night Hawk relay. Did some big mistakes, but I was ready for that, because terrain was so flat.

I was impressed that my legs could run fast enough after 2 so hard races, but again technically very bad performance - 1.5' on mistakes... Need to think what to do next.

Very bad race from side. Already to first 30' lost 6' on mistakes, than some Finnish guy caught me and I saw him couple of times till butterfly (caught him before butterfly because he made bigger mistake than I). In the butterfly one more Finnish guy caught me (for 8'!) and I tried to run with them. Lost contact with them on the 23 control, but again caught them up near 24th. One more time they run away from me after 29th control, when I drunk 3 glasses of water, but again caught them before 30th... almost 10' total time lost on mistakes, but still lot of time I loose on my running speed. Need to improve both (physical and technical) sides, if I want to compete in international level (WC, EOC, WOC..).

One more bad performance from my side. Physically was OK, but did not handle 5m contour lines. Totally 6.5' on mistakes.. no motivation to run more orienteering after so big disaster on home ground.

Today we tried our new model for Ape-Aluksne OK, because no one of Sild brother join us also this year, than our youngest guy tried to handle 1st leg, Edgars Bertuks 2nd leg and I ALL IN for 3rd leg.
It was hard battle for us, because 1st leg already lost a bit more than 13' for leaders, Edgars did a great performance with fastest time on 2nd leg and gave me 6th spot and I go ALL IN, because medal position was almost 7' away. Started very well and already was in 4th spot, but than I got nervous because I did not see anybody who I passed, made a 3 mistakes in the row for 4' and 1' in last loop. Tried to caught a team who was back in 4th spot, but without success and we finished 5th with 8'' after 4th and a medal position was 9' away.

Tried to do safe and good orienteering, but mistake to 5th control cost me 1', than not the fastest route choice to 6th control and 8th control, where Davis Dislers caught me for 2' and I decided to use his speed, but he was too fast for me today and last time I saw him near 16th control. Also 25" mistake to 17th control and I was out for fight for bronze medal. Finished 6th.

Good start, but missed 6th control for 1,5' (this is not my map, but I had root-stock near the circle), than pushed really hard and caught leaders at 14th control (I had depression at my GPS line), than overtook everybody and run in front, but missed 3rd last control and also hit my right leg on the metal tube just before last control.. walked till the finish line.

After yesterdays trail race went to my home club organized 2 days competition and run 2nd day (long distance with chasing start). Started 20.5' behind 1st day winner. For me it was a great training in very good map and training was more harder because to the first control I noticed that I have "bubble" at my compass and I have not correct direction. After 10th control start to push a little bit (you can see it from split times), but got a branch in my right eye to 22nd control and lost contact lens. After that just tried to finish this course.

Better navigation for me, but again big mistake to 8th control (~2.5') and I`m not satisfied with my performance. Of course hard to run after yesterdays long night leg and just some 6hours with sleep.

Good start, but than made a mistake to last forked control and miss leader group. After that also wrong route choice on long leg and miss there ~5'. Also bad physical condition and feeling.

Easy training before Night Hawk relay. Start together with Martins Sirmais and first part till 35th control run like a relay, than till 43 and individual race (Martins wait 1' and than tried to caught me, but I was faster and wait for him @43rd control 2'), than finished with easy running.

Tried to run at tempo pace, without any rush, but in the last part felt very tired after yesterdays interval training and made couple of mistakes totally ~1.5'.

Good feeling, but did not focus so good for all course. Did a good home work and I was prepared very well for this sprint course.
Big surprised for me was, that there was a new mapped area. Did a big hesitation to the first control near red stripes area and just stand there for 8", than 5" mistake to 8th control, when did not see a path between green; wrong turn to 10th control, when I run between building - 5"; BIGGEST mistake to 12th control, when I first cant to find best route choice on the map and start to run around, but than notice that I can run between two fences, but missed entrance to the first - this mistake totally cost me 45" and place in TOP6, last mistake was not my fault, but on 24th control my SI AIR card did not work and I need to came back 2 times to get a punch, there I lost more 5". Totally 1'08'' on mistakes, too much.. On clean race there could be a chance even fought for bronze medal.

Very good race, one of the best race from my side in Jukola relay. Endijs in first leg did very well job and gave me good starting position together with some strong teams, just 3' behind leaders. I made safe orienteering with some good route choices, also slow-green terrain was for me. In the last part of leg we caught leaders, but course was too short to fight for possibility to change 1st after 2nd leg. 11th best leg time and 17th spot after my race, just 35'' down to leader. In the end 34th place for TuMe 2nd team, 3rd best second team.

Did very good race from earlier start minute, after week in Czech I started to understand the terrain and way how to orienteering there. Before EOC I needed to came there for training camp.

Did a training race, because did not qualified for EOC long final A. For this kind of distance I was ready, not like qualification. Just a minor problems with 6h,13th control and route choice mistake beginning of 4th and 10th leg.

Already before my start knew that there is possibility that TuMe 1st team is DSQ, but manager tell me that I need to keep fighting! Just missed Frederic Portin 'train' ~35'', but tried to caught this train in first part of race - without success. Than from behind came one more very strong 'train' with Gernot Kerschbaumer and Soren Bobach. Let the boys doing all navigation, I just go with them. It was hard hell to survive this speed and I lost contact with them on last uphill, finished 2' behind, but anyway good test before European champ!

Tried to push as hard as I can, just to see my HR, because of exrasystoles what show up last week I did a lot of heart investigations and conclusion will be on Friday.

First Latvian champ this season - mass start. Very good forking and already in first butterfly stay alone till end of the course. Some big mistakes, but other guys also did not do so well and I finished 3rd.

Not so well after sickness, but tried to run fast enough to get some challenge. Orienteering was good enough, marsh was really wet!

Did safe route choice to 1st control and managed to be in front. Did good navigation till 4th control, but after it made i mistake, when wanted to run around cliffs and stony slope - did not check compass (~1' mistake). After it start to push harder, because I saw some guys in front of me ~30''. Lucky forking for me to 8th control and I was in front again, but guys from behind push really hard. On the way to 12 control lost my contact with map and can not find small cliff with control on it.. cliff was just on red line before swamp. Already before hill I knew that I will did a mistake and use forked control to relocated (~1.5' mistake). Last part was OK. Finished 8th place 1:40 down to best guys. Overall 2nd place for TuMe team! P.S. my first podium with TuMe guys in relay!

Started this individual race carefully, did some extra stops. After 1st control I.Lundanes caught me (1') and we run together till butterfly. I did good job in butterfly and after it I was almost 2' in front of him. Mistakes to 15, 17 and 18 control (totally for 3,5') and he again caught me. Anyway good start for me - 10th place and best from TuMe guys.
P.S. Map drawing was far from good.

Interesting terrain, very flat and open, but with bushes and other vegetation, also stone, but more runnable than previous days. Did some small mistakes (like 7th, 15th, 23rd, 25th and 26th), but my tactic to variate with speed was good and managed to finished in 4th place.

Tried to push hard and did a smart route choices what suited for me well. Lost my flow in the long leg, when last a contact with map in the middle part of the leg. After that also smaller mistakes in next two controls. Restart my race after some easier legs and road running route choice.

Very bad navigation for me, can not find small path and also a lot of new path in the forest due to forestry. After big mistake to 4th control decide to go home from 8th..

Did not check actual map scale, because in the bulletin it was written 1:10000, but in real life was 1:75000. Did a bad technical race in the beginning, than good middle part and again bad last part. Not so green like first day.

Already to the first control did direction mistake, than to 2nd did not no where I came out on the big electricity line, to the 3rd control miss the small path and climb too high, after that start to take easiest route choice. Wrong route choice to the 8th control.

My first experience in KARST terrains. Very stony and green area, also very flat. Found my flow in the beginning, but lost it at last part of the race, when did 1,5' mistake.

In one group with Edgars Bertuks, Belorussian guy, Swiss guy (team Estonia couch) and 2 Estonians. Only in one interval finished 3rd, 2 intervals won and in 3 finished 2nd.

Not so good feeling. Did couple big mistake. From control 44 ->43 did not check direction from road cross; 40->41 error in map (there was one more hill with pit); 52->53 did not check direction and than misunderstand a place where I was.

I got a wrong map, but did not know it. Run to the first control and when I started to go on 2nd control understood that something is wrong, because no one follow me in my direction. Looked at the map and noticed that I got a short course.. than tried to find some guy back and just follow, till I caught M.Sirmais and J.Tamuzs. All three we run away from everyone and I was so kind to let J.Tamuzs win this training.

New orienteering map, quit OK drawing. Mass start with forking. First I had different forking than Sirmais and Lupikis, where I caught Kietis and we did OK orienteering, without big mistakes and with smart route choices. Managed to catch Sirmais and Lupikis at 14. After that race was like a relay 1st leg, I did a better route choice to 2nd last control and to the finish. I finished 3" ahead Sirmais.

Very nice mass start with big forking only in brown and blue map. I did my own race almost all of the course and on my way to 2nd last control saw the first 2 guys, but I was too tired to caught them. A lot of snow in the forest. Finished 3rd, 30'' down to first place.

One more h-i training. First three intervals did with strongest group, but speed was too high and for last two I joined for 2nd group and won both last intervals. Quite hard.

Very good mass start. Imitation for 1st leg. Till mistake to 11th control I was in leading group, but there lost ~1' and finished 11th. 1:50'' from 1st place, just 10'' from 4th place. Good training in high intensity.

Arturs finished his leg in first position. I let JT to caught me and we finished in the same time. Overall Arturs did his job perfect and we won this training.

One team with Arturs Paulins. I did the 1st and 3rd leg. From first leg came out some 5'' after first team. No problems with orienteering, only really cold.
