Interesting format for our weekly night training. Pikathlon - three loops each followed by snowball throwing. Every missed throw counts as 1 penalty loop (apr. 100m). Mass start.
I worked on my orienteering routines at different speeds. First loop I did slow and pretty safe. Second already faster and with some more uncertainities. Third I ran rather hard but still stayed mistake free.
Valuable training as I noticed that my present orienteering style is not safe and when increasing speed I tend to forget about basic things - checking exact control placing feature, planning route choice and so on. I think it is important to have 1 faster orienteering session per week even in base period to work on these routines.
About training itself, I managed to pull a convincing training victory despite three mistakes in the last "shooting".
